Article 84 Of The Indian Constitution

Article 84 of the Indian Constitution speaks about the qualification required to become a member of the Parliament.

What Is Article 84 Of The Indian Constitution?

A person must fulfill all of the following requirements in order to be eligible to be chosen to occupy a seat in Parliament:

• (a) He is an Indian citizen and takes and signs an oath or affirmation in accordance with the format outlined for that intent in the 3rd Schedule before a person authorized in that regard by the Election Commission.
• (b) For a seat in the House of the People, he must be at least twenty-five years old, and for the Council of States, he must be at least thirty.
• (c) He must also meet any additional requirements imposed in this regard by or according to any law passed by Parliament.

Qualification To Be A Member Of The Rajya Sabha

The following criteria must be met in order for someone to be selected as a member of the Rajya Sabha:

1. He should be a citizen of India.
2. He should have attained the age of 30.

Qualification To Be A Member Of Lok Sabha

The following criteria must be met in order for someone to be selected as a member of the Lok Sabha:

1. He must be an Indian citizen
2. He must attain the age of 25
3. An individual must be registered to vote in one of the Parliamentary constituencies in order to be eligible to run for a seat in the Lok Sabha.
